Bagpipes Operation ID

We've all heard the horror stories of a bandmate or someone in the piping community having their bagpipes stolen. One of the worst things you can do in this situation is being unprepared. Most times when you buy a fancy new electronic device one the of first things you do is jot down the serial number, why wouldn't you do something similar for your bagpipes? The more descriptive information you have on your instrument the better and it can help you in retrieving your stolen item(s).
